Zinc Plating is a coating applied to steels, stainless steels and copper bearing alloys. It is applied as a electrodeposited coating to form a protective layer, that when broken or damage will act a sacrificial anode. Zinc coatings are rarely applied without a post chromate or passivate protective coating, further enhancing its resistance to corrosion or a secondary coating to be used as a base for painting or powder coating and in some cases for color coding. Available final protective finishes colors are silver clear, translucent bluish, iridescent yellow, Olive Drab, Forest Green, or Black.
